19th C. Fryksdahl Grandfather Clock, Sweden
A Swedish Fryksdahl grandfather clock, raised on feet, from the 19th century. This antique Fryksdahl clock from Sweden features a beautifully raised and carved crest, the neck and underside of the belly are adorn with carved medallions, and the original metal face, with delicate hands, are housed within the rounded head. This nicely curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a molded base which is raised up off of the ground by four beautifully carved feet with nicely carved skirting. This clock retains much of it's original color palette of gray, gilt, and a mossy green, with areas of natural wood showing through. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Fryksdahl raised floor clock would be a fabulous way to great guests in a entry foyer, or a wonderful decorative piece for the living room.
