Late 18th C Italian 4-Chair Back Sofa Bench

An Italian four-chair back style, carved wood sofa bench, with upholstered seat from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique settee from Italy features a back comprised of four exquisitely carved pierced splat backs with a linear top rail with slightly fanned our shoulders. The arm-rests are straight but curvy in design, terminating into beautifully carved knuckles. The sofa has a plain skirt (minimally adorn with a flower at center, and leaves at each lower arm post. The piece is raised nicely on squarely tapered legs and plain feet. The light/medium tone wood has a wonderful patina throughout. The upholstered seat needs refreshing and gives the perfect opportunity for new fabric to make this your own. Please note that there have been prior repairs to one arm (appears to have been broken off at one point and repaired). This late 18th century Italian four-chair back sofa bench would be a welcoming addition to a foyer or wide entry hall, a study, or living area within your home.
