Italian 19th C. Lyre Splat Back Sofa Bench

An Italian Neoclassical style carved fruitwood sofa bench, with cushion seat, from the 19th century. This antique settee from Italy features a straight back rail atop a beautiful and three widely spaced back splats of pierce-carved lyres adorning the backside. The lyre motif wraps around and makes up the underside of the arms as well, which delicately turn outward at their tops. The wood skirt is a neat, and clean, and is raised upon four squared legs that taper at their feet. The bench seat has a hand-rushed seat, with custom seat cushion that sits atop (for a seat height of 21.5"). However, the cushion has some stains so it is in need of a refresher; the perfect opportunity to make this work splendidly within your own decor!
