Swedish Oval Gate-Leg Table, Late 18th C.
A Swedish painted wood, oval-shaped, double gate-leg table from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique table from Sweden features two drop leaves along either side, which when raised and supported by the beautifully turned gate legs, create a larger oval-shaped table. The apron houses a single drawer that is accessible from either side of the table (meaning that it pulls through at both ends, but is a singular piece). The center legs, which are more baluster in appearance, are supported with a squared box stretcher just above their feet. This painted wood table has a later wash of gray paint, with a subtle blue showing through from beneath along its edges, and showing much of the wood graining in various areas throughout. This late 18th to early 19th century Swedish table offers great functionality, easily fitting into many spaces with leaves down, and the ability to convert into a larger table when needed for group gatherings, extra dining or work space. When the table is fully opened, it measures 68.75" wide
