Early 18th C. Italian Carved-Walnut Table
An Italian carved walnut wood occasional table with drawers, from the early 18th century (possibly 17th century). This antique table from Italy, created from rich walnut wood, has a rectangular-shaped top, which overhangs the carved apron below which houses a pair of drawers set at one long side, and is presented on four nicely-turned legs. All four sides of the apron (including the drawer fronts) are all uniquely carved in a series of rectangular panels with raised oblong geometric motifs within their centers. The legs are braced between each shorter side with a carved-wood stretcher just above their feet. This piece has a fabulous old patina throughout with areas of wear and some slight warping at the top; a beautiful reflection of is long history and use. The leg clearance for this piece is 36.25 inches wide between legs and 22 inches height from skirt to floor. This handsome early 18th century Italian table is a versatile piece, which could be floated within a room should you wish, as it is beautifully carved about all sides.
