Early 19th C. Spanish Baroque-Style Console
A unique Spanish carved and painted wood console table from the early 19th century (possibly older). This antique Baroque style console table from Spain has a curvaceous design with a faux-marble top that is outwardly scalloped at front, convex scallops at each side, and backside which is flat so that this piece can be placed snug against a wall. The top sits over an elaborately carved apron with a pair of exaggerated triangular shapes which dip downward at either side of the front leg along the skirt, embellished in a carved c-scroll trim and large flowers on the apron. The table is presented upon three gracefully curved legs, with highly profiled knees adorn with carved leaf-wraps, and terminating into whorl feet. The finish is mostly original (with a few touch ups over the years) with the faux-marble top being primarily orange with some red. The apron has a green and beige color, and trim, floral accents and legs a bronze/gold. There is some wear and an old patina to this piece, as can be viewed more in the additional images. This early 19th century Spanish table, with its fabulous shape and color, will be a bold, eye-catching statement for your home decor; perhaps that perfect piece for an entry hall!
