Italian Demi-Lune w/Scalloped Base, 19th C

An Italian carved-wood demi-lune console from the 19th century. This antique table from Italy features a half-moon shaped top, with recessed dentil molding accentuating the underside, above a base comprised of three legs and a t-shaped stretcher which braces the legs just above the ankles. The legs are carved in a series of thickly c-scrolls which give a scalloped appearance, and terminate into volute carved feet. The t-shaped stretcher is also nicely-carved, giving this piece beautiful movement and eye-catching appeal. The top has a hand-punched dotted design that outlines the perimeter of the outer bowed edge. This 19th century Italian demi-lune table, just shy of 4 feet in width, will make a wonderful addition to any home, perhaps used in a entryway or other living area.
