18th C. Italian Marble Top, Gilt Demi-Lunes
An Italian pair of elaborately embellished and gilt, marble top demi-lune console tables from the 18th century. These antique tables from Italy each feature a half-moon shaped white marble tops, which rest upon an apron carved in a bird and bouquet of foliage motif framed within rectangular panels. Carved flower heads within squared frame adorn the apron above each of the legs. They are presented upon four flute-carved rounded legs, with wrapped acanthus leaves and accent trim about their knees and peg style feet. The gilt and painted finish is either original or quite old. The marble is original on one table, but the second table appears to have been replaced at one point. Please note that some of the legs splay outward a bit, and there really is nothing that can be done about this due to their age. It is recommended that these tables be secured to a wall by a professional (recommend for security). This pair of 18th century Italian carved and gilt wood demi-lune tables with marble tops, are sure to be an eye-catching addition to any home, perhaps used to flank an entry foyer or other living area.
