Italian Pair Room Dividers, Late 17th C.
A fabulous Italian pair of 7 ft. tall leather embossed folding screens from the turn of the 17th and 18th century. This pair of antique accordion style folding screens from Italy each features three connected panels, each rectangular in shape, whose front sides are adorned in leather with original hand-painted scenes of nature, a festive collage of dolphins, squirrels, and foliage motif, all within a head accent trim about each panel. The leather finish has a lovely aged patina and cracking throughout, as well as some old tears- all a beautiful reflection of their rich history and age. The back-sides of these panels are un-adorned and painted in black. This pair of late 17th to early 18th century Italian painted leather screens would make stunning room dividers, visually breaking up a larger space, or perhaps used to add artful interest along a wall or corner.
