French 19th C. Wall Mirror w/Original Glass
A French painted wood mirror, with its original 2-piece glass, from the 19th century. This antique mirror from France features a rectangular-shaped frame with clean lines accented with a molded top rail, and side surrounds having trim embellishments to create a column style appearance flanking the glass at center. The painted wood frame has a scraped finish, with areas of natural wood showing in some spots. This piece retains its original glass, (with heavy foxing and antiquing) and is in two pieces (as shown in our secondary images). Interestingly, it was common for glass to be cut into smaller pieces and framed together for the illusion of one, due to a high taxation of glass during this time. This 19th century French mirror, standing approximately 4.25 feet in height, would look lovely hanging over a mantle, or living room wall.
