French Heavily Antiqued Mirror w/Griffins
A French decorative mirror, with griffin crest and paw feet, from the early 19th century. This antique mirror from France, approximately 4.5 feet in height, is rectangular shaped and features a pair of gilt griffins at top (facing each other with wings raised) flanked within a pair of raised finials. A pair of rounded, ebony columns frame the mirror at each side, with gold wraps about their tops and bottoms. Petite accent trim in gold is found throughout the mirror; accentuating the top and bottom lines and outlining the inner surround next to the glass. There are a pair of carved paw feet at the bottom of the mirror, adding to the griffin motif of this piece. The wood has an early finish which has been lightened naturally over time. The mirror glass is heavily antiqued. This early 19th century French mirror, adorn with griffins, paws, and column accents, would look quite fabulous adorning a mantel, entry foyer, or study.
