French Gold & Black Chairs w/Carved Eagles
A French pair of black and gold armchairs, with eagle head carvings, from the mid 20th century. These mid-century chairs from France each have square-shaped upholstered backs, with backwardly curved top-rail, flanked within a wood frame with volute-carved shoulders, sloping into graceful arms that terminate into knuckles comprised of a pair of striking carved eagle heads, supported on front arm posts carved in an eagles clawed foot. Upholstered seats are set within a a molded wood frame with concave design along the front, and sides mimicking the volute scrolls as found at top. The chairs are raised upon sabre legs, with an H-style turned stretcher bracing them above their feet. The upholstered backs and seats, currently in a gold Napoleon bee print with some areas of imperfections, are ready for a refresher; the perfect opportunity to make these chairs your own! The wood retains its original painted gold and black finish, with arms having some natural signs of wear. This mid-century pair of French occasional chairs, with their fabulous eagle-head carvings, together will make an intimate seating arrangement- perfect for a living room, bedroom, or office!
