French Louis XVI Style Antique Tub Chairs
A French pair of Louis XVI style occasional barrel-back bergère chairs from the early 20th century. These antique tub chairs from France have beautifully rounded backsides, with a subtly arched top rail flanked within petite should finials; all outlined in a carved lamb's tongue and petite beaded trim. The shoulders gently roll down to make up the arms, which are fitted with upholstered manchette pads, and terminate into curled knuckles. Carved acanthus leaves, flower heads and lamb's tongue trim embellish the seat rail and front arm posts. The chairs are presented upon four flute-carved round legs which taper gently to their peg feet. The wood finish is original. The upholstery is not original and is currently in good/usable condition. This pair of early 20th century French Louis XVI style occasional chairs would make a wonderful smaller conversational arrangement within a living room, or perhaps in a master bedroom.
