Late 18th C. Painted 2-Drawer Chest, Italy
An Italian raised two-drawer chest from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique chest from Italy features a rectangular-shaped top, over a case which houses two full-sized and panel front drawers , flanked within flute-carved front side posts, and raised upon gracefully-cylindrical legs with a subtle taper towards their peg-style feet. The drawers are each fitted with really nice (and great scale visually) Neoclassic style brass ring pulls and escutcheon at their center. There is a custom gray/green finish, and an off-white accent trim. Please note that there have been some prior repairs to the backside of this piece. This late 18th century Italian raised chest would work well in a bedroom as a dresser, or perhaps in a foyer or living area as a console chest with mirror or artwork hanging above.
