18th C. French Marble Top Raised Side Chest
A French raised two-drawer side chest, with original marble top, from the 18th century. This antique smaller-sized commode from France features a rectangular-shaped marble top that rests above the case which houses two drawers, has a lovely scallop-carved skirt along three sides, and raised upon four graceful legs with decorative metal toe caps at front feet to offer both protection and embellishment. The ornate cast-metal hardware on the drawers and skirt is quite special and looks just fabulous! The wood has a faint wash of color about the frame, which give it a subtle two-tone effect. The original marble (mauve, merlot, rose, off-whites) has a prior repair/large crack; therefore is not in the best condition. Please see our additional images for more details. This 18th century French petite chest would work well as an end table alongside a sofa or bed, or perhaps as a sweet place to store toiletries or hand-towels in a powder room.
