French 19th C. Commode w/Faux Marble Top

A French walnut chest of drawers, with faux painted marble top and brass accents, from the 19th century. This antique chest from France has been designed in clean/straight lines and has a rectangular-shaped, faux marble painted top, above the case which houses three dovetailed and graduated drawers. Each of the recessed panel drawers are outlined in a thin brass trim about their inner perimeters, and are fitted with a pair of brass rectangular pulls and shield-shaped escutcheon set within the center. It is presented upon four squared legs that taper gently towards their feet. The walnut wood has been stripped and refinished with a lighter body and two-tone effect with darker stain about the perimeter of the drawers, and top has a later faux marble finish in a black, brown, and white color palette. Please note that there is a slight bow in the center of the top (refer to additional images for more detail). This 19th century French commode would make a wonderful decorative storage piece in a bedroom or study.
