18th C. Veneer w/ Marble Top Chest, Italy
A period Neoclassical Italian two-drawer raised side chest, with veneered wood, decorative inlay banding and marble top, from the 18th century. This antique chest from Italy retains its original marble top which rests atop the cabinet that houses two full-sized drawers, and is embellished throughout the front facade with book-matched veneers, ebony stringing, contrasting wood, and a ribbon twist and repeating arrow banding motif. The drawers are each fitted with a pair of beaded round ring pulls and an attractive key-hole escutcheon at center. Fluted carvings are found on each of the sides posts, continuing onto the four squared and tapering legs. Please note that there are some light scratches on the marble and some of the veneer. This 18th century Italian Neoclassical chest is such a cute size; perfectly suitable for use in so many areas throughout the home!
