Mid 18th C French Provincial Wooden Commode
A French provincial Louis XV period carved and painted wood commode from the mid 18th century. This antique chest from France has an overhanging rectangular-shaped top with softly rounded front corners, atop the case below which houses three drawers. Each of the drawers, flanked within rounded front side posts, are adorn with hand carved relief outlines, which give this piece a look of movement, and fitted with a pair of pulls with floral backplates and foliate escutcheon at center. The front skirting is carved, and this piece is presented on block style feet, with front feet being rounded as to continue the soft lines of the rounded side posts. The natural wood finish has been complimented with a custom light green accent trim. Please note that there is a crack at the top of this piece, and that the lower left pull differs from the rest (see images). This mid 18th century French provincial commode has a smaller and versatile width, just over 2.6 feet, and will make a wonderful case piece for your storage and display needs!
