18th C. Swedish Period Baroque Wardrobe
A large-sized Swedish 18th century period Baroque "Kas" or "kast" cabinet with low relief carvings of foliage and lions heads. This antique wardrobe from Sweden features a nicely molded and overhung cornice, with three lions head's carved into each far side and center of the lower molding, above a pair of doors which are flanked within pilaster style panels carved with a bounty of foliage with bow tops and tassel bottoms, which is repeated within the centers of the raised panel doors and side panels. A full-sized single drawer is housed beneath the doors and is adorn with a pair of carved raised panels and center plaque carved with the face of a lion. The kas is presented upon three robust bun feet at front, with raised nicely upon large-sized turned bun feet, with bracket feet at rear. This oak wood cabinet has a wonderful patina throughout, with darker ebonized areas emphasizing the panels and feet. This Swedish Baroque kast, from the early 1700's, offers endless storage potential, and will add a stately elegance within any room. In addition to a wardrobe, this piece would be perfect to house a TV and other electrical components in a living room!
