Italian 19th C. Console Cabinet w/Columns
An Italian credenza console with intricate carved details from the 19th century. This antique buffet cabinet from Italy is elaborately carved with various egg-and-dart, foliage, and scrolling motifs. The rectangular-shaped top overhangs the body/case below which houses a pair of small drawers above a pair of doors, which open to reveal a shelf and storage within, and is raised upon bracket feet. The doors are carved with oval-shaped centers encompassed by a c-scrolling motif, line-and-dot trim defining the perimeter; all framed nicely within vertically hung foliage carvings, and a pair of Tuscan style columns which flank each front side of the cabinet. The bottom rail is a wonderful display of gadrooning carvings with acanthus leaf wrapped corners. The lighter wood has a wonderfully aged patina and has been highlighted in a lighter accent trim with subtle blue and green undertones (which read neutral from a distance). This 19th century Italian console cabinet is a nice versatile size, offering great storage and display opportunities without taking up too much floor space; it would make a great server in a smaller dining area or work well within an entry foyer.
