Antique Swedish Floor Clock w/Reeded Front
A Swedish Fryksdahl painted and carved wood floor clock from the 19th century. This antique Fryksdahl clock from Sweden features it's original metal face with hand-painted numbers, and shapely body, typical of the Fryksdahl style, which has been adorn throughout most of it's front with vertical reed carvings, and rests upon a flat base. The bulbous belly has a window at it's center and decorative molding at it's underside. The neck is adorn with a star at center, surrounded by scrolled accents This clock has an earthy grey color palette with blue undertones and charcoal accents. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Fryksdahl clock will make a lovely art object for you home, standing nearly 7 feet in height.
