Byzantine Cross with 21 karat trim

A bronze cross from the Byzantine Era trimmed with 21K gold. This bronze cross was created by lost wax casting and then further circular embellishments were hand chiseled. The Byzantine Era ran from the 300s to the fall of Constantinople and the Eastern Roman Empire in the 1450's, at which time, the area fell to the Ottoman Empire. The vast area of Byzantium spanned from the Mediterranean coast of Italy to Eurasia. This Byzantine Bronze Cross is richly trimmed with a rope detail around its edges, and is further extended to the bail.
