Antique Spanish Desk, Elaborately Carved
A Spanish elaborately carved wood desk, with trestle-legs and forged-iron stretchers, from the turn of the 19th and 20th century. This antique table from Spain has a rectangular-shaped top with leaf carved trim about the perimeter edges, which overhangs the apron below that houses three drawers (set side by side in horizontal fashion discreetly within the frieze). The apron is ornately carved about all sides (including drawer fronts) in a motif of various figures, creatures, cartouche style plaques, and fluted brackets. It is raised upon a pair of nicely-carved lyre-shaped trestle legs, with leaf carved accent trim embellishments and terminating onto ball and claw carved feet. The underside of the table is braced by a pair of hand-forged iron stretchers, adorn with disc shapes and scrolled ends. The wood has has a custom bleached finish with a highlighted accent trim. A layer of poly has been applied for protection. Leg clearance is approximately 24.75" between skirt and floor. This late 19th century Spanish trestle leg desk, with its elaborate carvings and forged-iron stretchers, is just shy of 4.5 feet in length, and would make a wonderful statement piece floated within a room!
