French Antique "Griffin" Pedestal Consoles
A fabulous French pair of wall consoles, with griffin carved-wood pedestal bases, from the turn of the 19th and 20th century. These antique tables from France each have a rectangular-shaped top, which is raised upon a wood base that features a pair of hand-carved griffins, each in opposing positions with volute-carved wings and scrolling tassels decoratively filling the spaces between their backsides, and seated upon a rectangular platform base. The tops are a later addition, and have been painted black. The bases (circa 1880-1920) have a custom wash of grey and beige. Tops are removable, making for easier transport and installation. Please note that there is a slight variation in sizes, as second console measures approximately 55.5"W x 18.25"D x 34"H. However, with some separation between them, the sizing differences would be unrecognizable. This French pair of ornate wall consoles, with carved Griffins, will make for a striking statement of strength and wisdom- together perhaps, flanking an entryway or on opposite rooms sides, with art or a tall pair of trumeau mirrors hanging above them.
