Italian Rococo Bombé Console, 18th C.
A stunning Italian period Rococo bombe console, with shapely serpentine marble top, from the 18th century. This antique console from Italy is robust piece with its elegantly swelling bombe shape and approximate 6.25 ft long width. The salmon colored marble top has a serpentine design with scallop emphasis at front center and nicely rounded corners. The carcase resembles a chest but is in fact hallow. It is ornately embellished about the front, shoulders, and skirting in high Rococo relief, with a sizeable carved foliage rocaille motif. This piece is presented upon four volute scroll carved feet with acanthus leaf carvings rising up about the ankles. The body color is primarily a deep blue/charcoal with gold accents. Note that the back has likely been replaced and that there have been some repairs to the marble top. This 18th century Italian console, with its magnificent Rococo elements and curvy bombé lines, is sure to be a standout piece; a room-maker perfect for a formal entry foyer, dining or living room.
