An Exquisite 18th C. French Demi-Lune Table
A French demi-lune table, with exquisitely carved skirt and bleu turquin marble top, from the 18th century. This antique console table from France features a half-moon shaped marble top (with rectangular projections which emphasize the front corners and each backside), that rests upon a flute carved apron with framed flower-heads carved beneath each of the marble projections. A fabulous display of carved garlands, complete with bow-tied accents, adorns the underside of the apron as a draped skirt about the front and sides. The table is presented upon four rounded and fluted legs, with decorative bulb-carved knees at top and ankles wrapped in carved acanthus leaves below, tapering gently towards their feet. The gold finish has some trace areas with red showing through from beneath. The bleu turquin marble top, derived from Italian quarries, has a luxurious soft grey/blue color. This 18th century French demi-lune table, with garland carved skirt and bleu turquin marble top, will make a stunning addition to an entry foyer, living or dining room.
