French Neoclassical Trumeau Mirror, 19th C
A French Neoclassical trumeau style carved-wood mirror from the 19th century. This antique mirror from France features a rectangular-shaped frame, outlined with ribbon trim molding about the exterior edges, as well as about the interior carved plaque and glass edges. The upper portion of this frame contains the glass, with an ornately designed carved wood plaque in the lower portion embellished with a ribbon bow-tie, garland swags, floral bouquet, urn, and scrolling foliate motif. The mirror is original and has lovely foxing. The medium to light toned wood has a silver/grey accent which highlights some of the various moulding elements. This 19th century French pier or trumeau mirror, with its elegant Neoclassical design, stands just shy of 6.5 feet in height.
