French Neoclassical Trumeau Mirror, 19th C.
A French Neoclassical painted wood trumeau mirror, with nicely carved trim details, from the 19th century. This antique mirror from France is rectangular-shaped and has an acanthus leaf carved top crest rail with raised and squared crest at center with a swag and petite floral medallion. The trumeau plaque at top is adorn with an oval shaped plaque with bow-tie and grapevine garlands and floral medallions. The tall, rectangular-shaped mirrored glass is flanked within carved fluted columns, which step out slightly from the rest of the frame, giving dimension and a further textural element. The primary finish is black with gold/bronze accents highlighting the various trimmings. This 19th century French Neoclassical trumeau or over-mantle mirror stands approximately 4.3 feet in height and approximately 2.5 feet in width.
