Early 19th C. Italian Single Drawer Console
An Italian Neoclassical carved-wood console chest from the early 19th century. This antique table from Italy, created during the Neoclassical period, features a rectangular-shaped top, which slightly overhangs the apron which houses a single, full length drawer, and skirt carved with a single scallop design within the center at the front a both sides. The piece is presented upon four flute-carved, squared, and tapering legs that terminate into peg style feet. The raised panel drawer is fitted with brass Neoclassical hardware. There wood has been stripped to the natural wood, with edges and carvings highlighted in a light wash of paint, and a protective poly coating. The backside of this chest remains un-adorn, making best use to be placed against a wall or behind a sofa. This early 19th century Italian chest will make a wonderful Neoclassic addition to your home, perhaps as a server or console table with storage.
