18th C. Italian Neoclassical Cassettiera
An Italian carved and painted wood raised chest of two drawers from the 18th century. This antique cassettiera (chest of drawers) from Italy features a rectangular-shaped top, over a case which houses two full-sized drawers, flanked within flute-carved side posts, and having raised panel sides. These are the best style of drawers; with decoratively raised panel design that has a circular center with escutcheon, and pair of ring pulls at either side with flower back plates. This case piece is raised upon four flute-carved, spaded legs. The finish is a newer custom paint, including the faux marble at topside. The height is a bit unusual given the size and leg height- but it is still a robust piece. Please note that the top was replaced at one point. This 18th century Italian Neoclassical raised chest, approximately 4 feet in width, will be a fabulous addition to your home; with decorative items atop and storage within.
